Stargym - Gym & Fitness WordPress Theme Documentation

1. Theme installation


To install this theme you must have a working version of WordPress already installed. Make sure you have clean WordPress setup. This installation guide will help you to install the WordPress.

The theme files can be uploaded in two ways: Through FTP or through WordPress dashboard.

  1. FTP
    Upload the non-zipped theme folder into the /wp-content/themes/ folder on your server.
  2. WordPress
    Navigate to "Appearance" > "Add New Themes" -> "Upload Theme" -> "Choose file" (choose stargym.zip) > Install


Basic configuration

  1. Install all required plugins (Especialy Unyson and Stargym-plugins) and activate them
  2. Update permalinks for custom pages in Settings -> Permalink -> Save


Notice: if you want to use a child-theme, you can also upload the file stargym-child.zip in addition with the main Stargym Theme.

Demo content 

We recommend you to install demo content. Go to the Tools -> Demo Content Install.
Click Install, wait till it'll be downloaded. Your WordPress stargym theme now must be identical to live preview.

2. Theme Configuration

Fill all fields in Appearance  -> Theme Settings

General

Upload logo here.
If you need google maps, you must enter google maps api key.
Excerpt size configures automatic cutting of blogs text for preview

Coaches Block

Here you control join us block on main coaches page. You can set text and link


Footer block

You can set footer address information, social links, headers, footer logo (it can be identical to header logo)

Favicon

Next, in Appearance  -> Customize you can set Site Title, add favicon



WordPress settings

You can find more information in WordPress documentation, but we'll describe main options.
  1. Settings -> General. You can set here your email, timezone, date format
  2. Settings -> Reading. Frontpage must be set to "Homepage", but you can use any page of site as welcome page. Also you can change number of posts per page. 6, 8 or 10 will be optimal
  3. Settings -> Discussion. You can enable/disabled premoderation of comments here.

3. Menu and Widgets

Menu

Use Appearance  -> Menu to set you header menu and footer menu.
If you downloaded demo content, we set optimal pages, you can change order and level. Add new pages or remove them here. You can use different menus for header block (with multilevel menus) and footer block (one level short menu, will be hidden on mobile version of site)



Widgets

Widgets are blocks visible in blogs page. In stargym template we use only one sidebar area on the right.
You can change them in Appearance -> Widgets.
You can use any of standard WordPress widgets. Also you can install and any new widget in Plugins menu, but we can't guarantee support for them.



4. posts

Blogs posts

It's standart WordPress posts module. You can write articles here, create categories, set tags.

Coaches

Coaches posts used for coaches page. Also you can post last coaches on any page of site using shortcodes.
Description will be visible in coaches list.
You can switch between two columns view (with text and accordion) and one full width text in coach full page


Testimonials

You can post clients feedback here. Also you can post preview of feedbacks on any page with shortcode.


Gallery

Among standard gallery, you can use our posts type. Main Photo with header and description will be shown in list and other photos with full-page zoom inside of gallery.
Last 6 galleries will be visible in footer block.


5. Pages

Among posts, pages are main module where you'll create your site content. You can use Page Builder for visually change blocks and using shortcodes. You'll find information about all stargym shortcodes in next section, here we'll describe main editor functions.

First of all, we recommend you to install required plugin Black Tiny MCE. Then enable Visual Page builder:



Layout

Every page composed from sections and columns. To create any element on page you can simple click on it's icon or move it with drag'n'drop wherever you need. After then you can single click on element to set it's options and content:



Section
Full sized block with content. Divide sections by context. For example - forms, blogs list, coaches list, text information. Some of options have descriptions, we'll describe most important:

  1. Full width block will take all web site width, while non full-width will use only center content space. Full-width block can be used for backgrounds. Often they used on home page.
  2. Background parallax effect used for large background images, they will be slowly scrolled in page scroll.
  3. Scroll animation used in some block, mostly on home page. Elements of this section will be shown only, then it becomes visible
  4. Custom CSS class used for our preset stargym sections. It's needed for some non standard padding, margin, color, text size and image position in this section. If you downloaded demo content, all CSS Classes will be set for you and you can use them in future.


Columns

Every section can have columns. They used for composing your content horizontally.
Columns differ in their number in one row.
1/1 column will be full-width and 1/2 column will take 50% of row.
Column has one options - content alignment (left/center/right)

Accoridon
Creates block with hidden sections. Used for post large amount of information in small block


Map
You can insert google map in section or column. You can use special API KEY or set in general settings to use on all pages

Text Block
Most important shortcode. Places text wherever you need


Saving page content

If you novice in WordPress, you forget to save page before your changes will take effect. After you created all element on page you must click "Update" button



NOTICE: Page builder has Templates for sections, columns and full-pages. You can use our from demo content or create you own to use them in all pages.

6. Shortcodes

We have described some of standard shortcodes in previous section. Now we'll describe unique stargym shortcodes. Most of them used to create homepage.


Stargym Blog

Posts last blogs posts on the page. You can choose number of posts.



Club cards

You can create cards block, set image, and url for button and text href


Coaches block

Show last coaches



Calculator

Predefined block with optimal weight formula.



Stargym Icon

Show uploaded image and short text under it



Stargym Items List

List with short text on one side and more buttons on other



Plans

Plans can be used as price list on site pages



Skills

Blocks with number and text description. When user scrolls to it number will have count up animation effect.



Social Icons List

You can create icons list with text and simple social (and other) icons block from font awesome icon database.




Stargym Special Header

You can use WordPress simple header or our stargym headers. They consist of two parts, second part can be placed on new line and/or colored with theme color.






Stargym Tabs

Special block with 3 tabs.



Testimonial

Posts testimonials swipe slider. You can set number of testimonals to show.


Zoom Slider

Used for home page at the top (but you can use it anywhere, of course). Uploaded images will change with nice zooming effect. While header and text stays still.


7. Forms

To add forms on your pages, first create them in required plugin. Then go to Plugins -> Installed Plugins -> Contact Form 7 -> Settings



Create form you need, copy shortcode and paste it in your page.

Black Studio TinyMCE Widget

Adds visual editor to page builder

Breadcrumb NavXT

Used for showing breadcrumbs in header of site

Email Subscribers & Newsletters

Not required plugin. If it installed and activated - subscribe block will be show on footer of every page.

Post Views Counter

Show number of views in gallery and blog posts. If you disable it icon will be hidden.

Simple Share Buttons Adder

Add share button to the blog post

WP Instagram Widget

You can add this widget to sidebar to show last photos of selected instagram



9. Backup

You can backup your site in Tools -> Archives menu. Also you can enable Backup Schedule for automatic backup.



We strongly recommend you to do manual backups regularly, especially when you making updates or major changes on your pages.
